Adelaide Hills Getaway

ADELAIDE HILLS GETAWAY - President’s Weekend - Friday 24 to Sunday 26 April

 

This year we will join with the Rotary Club of Stirling in having a weekend of fun based around the bushfire affected areas of the Adelaide Hills.

The weekend format will consist of the following:

 

FRIDAY 24 APRIL

 

'Sculpture for Interiors and Gardens Exhibition', Stangate House - 4pm to 5.30pm

Our friends at the Rotary Club of Stirling have invited our members and their guests to a private viewing with nibbles and wine, of their curated sculpture exhibition at lovely Stangate House, the Mt Lofty Branch of the National Trust's magnificent camellia-filled garden of secret pathways, a creek, sweeping lawns and magnificent trees. Well-known and emerging artists have been invited by Curator Tim Boon and his wife Jan to exhibit sculptures suited to the home and garden.

Sales of sculptures will go towards the Rotary National Bushfires Appeal and Rotary's ShelterBox project.

Dinner at The Haus - 6pm to 9pm

The Haus restaurant is located on historic Main Street, Hahndorf – all only 20 minutes drive from Adelaide. Chef – Naman Tyagi, has created a diverse range of tastes and flavours using only the best ingredients the Adelaide Hills and South Australia has to offer. You will be presented with a choice of 5 main courses and a scrumptious German dessert. The Haus will also cater for dIetary requirements.

Cost $40 per person for 2 courses. Cash Bar separate.

 

 

SATURDAY 25 APRIL

 

ANZAC Day Dawn Service, Alec Johnston Park - 6.30am

Lest We Forget. You are invited to gather for the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the Alec Johnston Park, Main Street Hahndorf at 6.30 am for a Commemorative Service and Wreath Laying.

No bookings required, all warmly welcome.

 

Beerenberg Farm - 10.45am to 11.45am

From its beginnings in the Adelaide Hills, Beerenberg Farm has become a household name in Australia and around the world while remaining 100% family owned. Our tour will include a visit to the Beerenberg Farm Shop, a 5 minute talk on Beerenberg’s history out near the picking patch (weather and patch permitting), product tasting and a take away bag containing 5 assorted Beerenberg products.

Cost $8 per person (45 minute Group Tour)

 

Lunch at Golding Wines - 12.30pm to 2.00pm

Golding Wines is situated on the outskirts of Lobethal, within the Lenswood appellation, high in the picturesque Adelaide Hills. The Golding vineyard sustained a lot of damage during the recent Adelaide Hills fires. Golding's cellar door and ever-evolving garden were spared in the fires and are a gorgeous backdrop to a place perfect for sharing the good things: great wine and food in the company of others. 

Our guests will be treated to a delicious Adelaide Hills lunch designed by Head Chef De Buys Nortier. His 'Trust Our Chef' menu is designed to show case the best of Golding Wines. Local, fresh produce from house-made and locally sourced ingredients. This shared lunch is designed to suit everyone, catering to all dietary requirements.

Cost $30 per person for a shared group lunch (drinks not included)

 

Tomich Wines, Tour of fire affected vineyard & Wine Tasting 2.30pm - 4.00pm

Tomich Wines was one of the vineyards severely affected by the recent Adelaide Hills bushfires with approximately half it's vines lost. We will be taken on a guided tour of the vineyard, and taste some of the amazing Tomich wines! The Tomich vineyard is one of the largest in the Adelaide Hills and immediately adjacent to other outstanding Vineyards owned by leading Australian premium cool climate producers. The family’s sustainable vineyard practices have been constantly applauded by the local grape growing community. Treat yourself and stock up on this wonderful wine while showing your support - order forms will be available on site.

SATURDAY EVENING DINNER WITH GUEST SPEAKERS - Trent Harron and Steve Larkins

Dinner at The Hahndorf Inn, Arcobräu Brauhaus 6.00pm - 9.00pm

The newly renovated Arcobrau Brauhaus, located in the magnificent Borchers Blacksmith Barn (circa. 1863) adjacent to the Hahndorf Inn will be our private dinner venue for the night. The Chef has created a bespoke menu of premium, locally sourced products, offering our guests a choice of 5 main courses and 2 desserts. A selection of beautiful Adeliade Hills wines will be available at the cash bar. The Hahndorf Inn will also cater for dietary requirements.

Cost $35 per person for 2 courses. Cash Bar separate.

 

 

SUNDAY 26 APRIL

 

The Cedars - 10.30am to 1pm

Your visit to The Cedars will include a 1 hour guided tour of both Hans Heysen’s studio – Australia’s oldest artist’s studio able to be viewed– and Nora Heysen’s studio, as well as the Heysen family home. Some 200 original works of art can be seen in changing displays in the studios and the house.

A light lunch, consisting of sandwiches, cake, tea and coffee will be served at the Tea Rooms near Nora’s Studio at 12pm.

All visitors are welcome to spend time in the charming garden that changes with the seasons, or to wander along the Artist’s Walk and discover some of Heysen’s favoured painting sites.

Cost $22 per person (1 hour guided tour and light lunch, tea and coffee)

The Haus - Accommodation

The Manna by Haus, modern and stylish accommodation located in the Heart of Hahndorf. Featuring all the facilities of a modern CBD Hotel, in the relaxed regional setting of the Adelaide Hills. It's refurbished Scandinavian-inspired rooms, offer great comfort and quality. Set back just off the Main Street, The Manna by Haus offers a high quality of style and comfort.

The Haus have kindly offered The Rotary Club of Adelaide a special deal for our weekend.

Bus  - Saturday 25th, Pickup 10.30 am  and drop off 4.30pm from The Haus

For your convenience and due to the nature of the activities on Saturday, we have arranged for a bus to pick up guests from The Haus on Saturday morning, bring them to all activities throughout the day and drop them back at The Haus after the last activity and before dinner. This is optional of course, so you are welcome to make your own way around. If minimum numbers for the bus are not reached, we will cancel this service and refund this cost.
