 Geoff Strempel WEB

Treasures of the State Library: Preserving and making accessible our cultural heritage.

Geoff Strempel, Director, State Library of SA

Geoff has spent much of his career working in, or providing support to libraries. Prior to being appointed Director of the State Library in September last year he led Public Library Services (a division of the Libraries Board of South Australia) for 10 years. During this time he led significant changes in the South Australian public library network, including the establishment of a Statewide public library consortium - colloquially known as the One Card Network.

He is acutely aware that he, along with his team, is the custodian of the single most important collection of historical material about South Australia, from before its colonisation through to the present day. His passion is both preserving and finding way to share the stories embedded in this collection.
