Helping Hand Centre Support
The Rotary Clun of Adelaide has had an involvement with the Helping Hand Centre in North Adelaide for decades.
Our history records show that in 1968/69 a $70,000 project was established for the Helping Hand Centre to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our Club. Rotary House was built then and still stands at the Helping Hand Centre, as a visible record of the involvement of the Rotary Club of Adelaide.
The Rotary Club of Adelaide help organise an annual concert for the residents of the Helping Hand Centre. This concert has been organised and sponsored by Rotary Club of Adelaide every year since the early 1950's. We coordinate the Christmas concert with a Salvation Army Band playing for the residents, and we provide afternoon tea for those attending. The numbers vary each year but typically 50 to 60 residents and freinds attend.
In the past, Rotary Club of Adelaide members would assist with bringing residents in wheelchairs down for the concert.
The Rotary Club of Adelaide supports the Salvation Army for their participation. This annual donation to the Salvation Army goes towards assisting their aged care facility at Croydon.
