Rotary Club of Adelaide Community Service Award

Community service is the heart of Rotary and the Rotary Club of Adelaide Community Service Award is an acknowledgement of this principle. The Award is made to individuals in recognition of exceptional contributions to the community which may have gone unrecognised in the past.

Nominations for the Rotary Club of Adelaide 2012 Community Service Award

Nominations are now open for the Rotary Club of Adelaide 2012 Community Service Award. The Community Service Award recognises the valuable contributions made by volunteers to our community. The Rotary Club of Adelaide invites organisations or individuals to nominate an ‘unsung hero’ who has made an outstanding contribution over a period of many years to the community through their community service.

The recipient of the 2011 Award received $6,000 and this was donated to the Charity of the awardees choice, as well as a plaque in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the community.

Selection Criteria

1.   An ‘unsung hero’ who has made an outstanding contribution to the community through their community service.

2.   A person who has made a contribution over a period of many years to the community.

3.   Preferably a volunteer but not excluding a paid employee of a charitable organisation who has made a significant contribution beyond normal duties. Include examples that best show how the nominee has gone above and beyond what could be reasonably expected of someone in a similar paid position.

4.   Recognition for a contribution ideally to the local community (i.e. Rotary Club of Adelaide district) or from a nominee living in the local community

5.   A person who had previously not received a community service award or similar public recognition for their contribution to the community.

Selection Process

The Rotary Community Service Award Selection Panel will select the award winner according to the Selection Criteria listed above. The Selection Panel will inform the Board of the Rotary Club of Adelaide of its decision. The nominee and their nominator will be invited to a Rotary Club of Adelaide meeting at which the Rotary Community Service Award will be presented.
