World Festival of Magic

The Rotary Club of Adelaide is proud to be associated with the World Festival of Magic. This world class show originates in the United States and travels around Australia and New Zealand each year providing wonderful entertainment for children with special needs and raising money for service clubs at the same time.

Over the last 18 years our club has hosted many shows accommodating tens of thousands of disadvantaged children throughout Adelaide, allowing them a very memorable experience. We are proud to be the only Rotary Club in South Australia to host a live Magic Show.

The Magic Show is the culmination of five months contact with businesses and individuals in Adelaide seeking business sponsorship for special needs children and their carers to attend the show at no cost. In addition to providing tickets for the show the funds generated also help our club support worthy people and projects in our district.

The World Festival of Magic

In 2010 three performances of The World Festival of Magic was held at the Thebarton Theatre on Saturday December 15. A total of over 5,000 children with special needs, their carers and or families came to see the show. It was another world class event with the audiences captivated by the illusions of the magicians and the breathtaking efforts of the jugglers.

This event provides the opportunity for these special children to see a world class event when many of them would not have been able to even go to a theatre before. The look on their faces said it all – they loved the show. Our Club received many letters of thanks from the children who also sent letters to their sponsor.

This year the funding focus from the Magic Show was the Phoenix Society who provides jobs for people with a disability and Time for Kids, a highly successful early intervention program assisting at risk disadvantaged children in South Australia.

The Rotary Club of Adelaide is delighted to be able to support these two very worthy South Australian organisations as a result of the World Festival of Magic.
